What We Do

History of Love Your Neighbor

Love Your Neighbor has a 40 year history of providing community support services in the Hudsonville, Jenison, and Grandville areas. Formerly an affiliate of Love INC, Love Your Neighbor launched its own nonprofit organization in 2021 in order to pursue a more localized and interdependent approach to serving its neighbors.

We started out offering rides and found opportunities to pour into our community in many different ways over the years. We work to build into a community where people’s needs are being met and all have the opportunity to thrive.

Love Your Neighbor functions as a bridge to the community, offering community support services to under-resourced families through partnerships with churches, businesses, schools, and local government.

We Gather Around the Apostles Creed:

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
  was crucified, died, and was buried;
  he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
  He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
  the holy catholic church,
  the communion of saints,
  the forgiveness of sins,
  the resurrection of the body,
  and the life everlasting. Amen.

What we believe

about diversity:

Gratefully following the example of God, who created the world teeming with diversity (1) and the call of Jesus to love one another as He loved us,(2) Love Your Neighbor embraces all people, welcoming and including their gifts and histories.(3)

As a Christ-following organization,

we recognize the dignity of every person

we strive for unity rather than similarity,(4)

seeking to celebrate what makes each staff member, volunteer, participant and board member unique,(5)

        to seek out that diversity,

and to commit to Spirit-led learning toward the flourishing of all God’s children (6).
