Clearing the Snowstorms of Life

The snow is piling up outside our office windows, and the snow plows are working overtime to clear the freshly fallen snow. The snowplow driver’s diligence in keeping the roads clear so the rest of the world can travel in safety is difficult work.

However, it must be done.

The world must move, and the snow must be cleared away.

At Love In the Name of Christ, our world too spins and reels with the hurt and heartache of those who are seeking solutions to life’s challenges. Like the snow plow driver, our work is challenging and necessary. Our message, of the Love of Christ, is essential to a world buried in doubt and hopelessness.

Tuesday, November 27th is Giving Tuesday – a day to support Love INC of SE Ottawa County, Jenison and the City of Grandville, via the internet. If every person on our list donated just ten dollars what a vast difference it would make in our community!

More families would be mentored!

More neighbors would enjoy a ride to doctor’s visits and medical appointments!

More medical equipment could be freely loaned out!

The Love of Christ would be spread throughout this community and impact generations to come!

It’s quite incredible that all of this happens almost every day, and every week, by diligent volunteers who embody our diligence core value.

Not only is there a large variety of “things to do,” but also a deep investment by those who say yes to volunteering. Most volunteers serve weekly, some even daily, spending hundreds of hours donating the gift many of us hold most tightly – the gift of time.

In 2023 alone, 420 volunteers invested 49,120 hours – a value of $1.5 million! 

Our core mission is to love, serve and connect with dignity as we follow Jesus Christ closely, watching how he transforms lives – and we often highlight the transformation happening through our Life Skills Program.

What we often forget to highlight is that God is also transforming lives through volunteerism, giving community members purpose, friendship, creativity, and belonging. Here at Love, we believe everyone has something to offer.
