In 2023 Love Your Neighbor was donated a 2011 Yukon to give to a family that was in the Life Skills Program. Unfortunately, due to the cost of gas and the vehicles average mile per gallon, the vehicle was not a suitable fit for the family. The Yukon sat for sale on our lot for a while, but it did not sell, and was no longer drivable due to its inactivity. Our goal was to simply sell the vehicle and get it off our hands. God, however, had a different plan in mind.
In an attempt to get a diagnosis on the vehicle, we reached out to Hudsonville Towing to get the vehicle towed to a shop. Hudsonville Towing generously offered to tow the vehicle to HT Auto for free. Meanwhile, the team over at HT Auto had been in conversation with a DHE employee who was struggling to get back on their feet, and whose biggest need was transportation.
HT Auto donated their time to fix up the vehicle and sell it for us, and DHE offered to cover any parts needed to get the vehicle running and road worthy. I’m happy to say, that vehicle sold! Through relationships and generosity that we can’t take credit for, a need in the community was met, by the community.
