“Hudsonville seems to be a small town where everyone knows each other. Being blessed by having Hudsonville as my hometown, I heard of Love through conversations with people throughout the years. When I was 18 years old, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and made Him my Lord and Savior of my life! I had to be willing to allow God to transform me from the inside out to be made into His image for His glory. This was not an easy process. Years passed by and God kept molding and maturing me. During this process, God gave me a desire to volunteer and serve at Love. Once I graduated from college and took a short break, God guided me to start looking into volunteering at Love.
I was nervous because I had not volunteered without my family before. I trusted God to bring about what He wanted through this season. I had doubts about Love accepting me and giving me a chance to volunteer because of my physical disability. But that wasn’t the case.
God blessed me with the opportunity of volunteering and serving at Love! I started out in the clothing department; sorting clothes and hanging them up in the store. Months passed and friendships were forming. God taught me that I am His light in this world and to share His gospel with those around me. He moved me from clothing to completing data entry tasks such as entering the volunteer hours on the computer. When you volunteer, I’m the one who makes sure that gets recorded.
This has been the longest volunteer position that I have had and it’s all for God’s glory!”
“Meeting and having the privilege of working alongside Emily each week brought me so much joy and laughter – and I earned a lifelong friend who continues to show me the love and face of Jesus!’ – Carly Johnson, Love Your Neighbor Volunteer Coordinator
God has also made Emily to be a published author in order to further spread His Good News! You can view her books here.
