This is a regular question the staff at Love Your Neighbor asks each other. At all staff meetings, we see hands shoot up to share regardless of ministry area – we see how God is moving in the resale space, warehouse space, connection center, in the Life Skills Program, through our volunteers and more. Recently, one of our Life Skills leaders shared a God sighting for a family participating in the Life Skills Program that showcased one of Love’s unique assets: partnerships.
“Ubering had become the way of transportation for a Life Skills family whose vehicle was down for repair. With their bank account sitting negative- there were no funds for Uber or car repair. No transportation meant losing the job.
With two more days to work for the week, the family came looking for guidance. Love Your Neighbor reached out to a local church partner that night and by the next day rides to and from work for those two days were covered by volunteers! A generous local car business partner was able to repair the car at a discounted rate by Monday – the start of a new work week.”
Love Your Neighbor acts as an on-ramp to a better way for many individuals and families facing poverty – both generational and situational. We can say yes to each vulnerable neighbor who approaches us because of the unique partnerships that provide relief, betterment and development for families who are discouraged and looking for hope. We are grateful that we can offer tangible support that leads to long-term relationships that show the love of Christ.
